Malcolm Smith plays with meaning in his art by refracting signification through leaps, slippages, the use of myth, belief and skepticism. In his recent work, the idea of taking shape is the way that human and animal interrelate; both come into being as they take shape within a series of stimuli created through the use of masks and mirrors, signals and noise. His audiovisual experimentation creates layers and landscapes where the two are indistinguishable. Malcolm is a founding member of the performance groups Nox 0, Tropical Effect, and the newly formed Limitless Pledge. He is co-creator of the Temple of Messages and director of Tremor live arts event.
